Secure Information Exchange - Whether It’s Data in Motion or at Rest

Sounding Off on Cybersecurity

By Jim Morris

It’s my pleasure and honor to be presenting this coming Friday, April 9th, alongside Congressman Mike McCaul of Texas at the Austin Technology Council Leadership Series meeting on cybersecurity.

My presentation will explore ways in which we can better protect trade secrets, personal information and our country from cyber thieves and terrorists. I plan to address the growing frequency and complexity of today’s cyber threats—those faced by both governments and enterprises worldwide. Exploring current events, including the recent Google-China conflict, I hope, will emphasize for the audience the real and present danger that state-sponsored cyber warfare poses to private industry and our national security.

So, how do we go about mitigating this risk? I will also discuss my thoughts on how the industry and government can collaborate to improve our country’s overall cybersecurity posture. Through sustained, judicious improvements in policy, practices and technology—and the legislation to reinforce these changes—we can all work together to reduce our vulnerability to threats and to protect our digital assets. I will also highlight some key safeguards that can give organizations an upper hand in reducing risk.

the project teams can focus on the agreed project goals, while also avoiding the mission and scope creep that will void the project plan and greatly increase the risk of failure.

whether it’s moving within and outside of the organization or while it’s at rest on their desktops, a shared server, or elsewhere.
