I've found that the MFT market consists of many vendors providing a large set of solutions. In general, MFT solutions can be categorised to the following types:

- Internal MFT - Moving files internally, between systems or branches (mostly automated)
- External MFT - Distributing data to or collecting data from 3rd parties, mostly for processing purposes, mostly automated
- Ad-hoc MFT - People sending files to each other
- Collaborative MFT - Check-in/Check-out kind of activity, similar to sharing a file via a file-server
- Cyber-Ark's IBV addresses all types of MFT, and this is one of its competitive advantages.
